PRINCETON, N.J. — October 16, 2026 — Tough Stuff Recycling (TSR) sponsored and exhibited at the Northeast Recycling Council’s (NERC) 2026 Rethink Resource Use Conference, held October 5–7 in Princeton, New Jersey. The gathering brought together recycling and sustainability professionals to exchange ideas on resource recovery, waste reduction and effective materials management across the Northeast and throughout the U.S.
TSR’s participation reflected its commitment to collaboration, recycling education and practical solutions that help keep recoverable materials in circulation.
“The NERC Conference provides an important opportunity for industry professionals to share knowledge, discuss emerging challenges, and identify practical solutions that support the highest and best use of our resources,” said Mary Horsman, Northeast Manager of Sales and Marketing at Tough Stuff Recycling. “We’re proud to support NERC’s work and to contribute to conversations that advance recycling, strengthen waste diversion efforts, and create lasting environmental benefits.”

Conference Conversations Focus on Resource Recovery
Conference sessions explored ways to expand recycling access, advance reuse and waste diversion, learn from Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies, and use data and emerging technology to improve recovery. The discussions underscored the value of shared experience and practical collaboration across the recycling sector.

TSR Shares the Value of Mattress Recycling
At the TSR exhibit, Mary Horsman spoke with attendees about the mattress recycling process and why keeping mattresses and box springs out of landfills and incinerators matters. Mattresses contain recoverable materials—including steel, foam and textiles—that can be separated and directed toward additional uses through appropriate recycling processes.
For municipalities, businesses and collection partners, specialized mattress recycling can complement broader waste diversion programs. TSR works with these audiences to help recover useful materials and provide responsible recycling options. More information is available through TSR’s commercial recycling services.
Building Connections for Better Recycling Outcomes
By supporting and exhibiting at NERC’s Rethink Resource Use Conference, TSR joined a regional conversation about keeping resources in productive use. The company continues to share information about mattress recycling with communities, businesses and recycling-industry partners as waste diversion efforts develop across the Northeast.
